Marco Island-Spring Break

For every spring break my family and I go to Marco Island, FL. This year we drove for 2 days. The first night we stayed in Atlanta, GA the second night we stayed and my Great Grandma, Louise's house in Titusville, FL. Today is the second day we have been here last night, Jackie and Chris Briscoe came over to stay in the house we rented until our neiboors from Kansas come. The condo we are staying in has a huge screened in porch and a pool with a hot tub and did I mention the house is on a canal of the ocean?! Today we woke up ate breakfast and then we all got our swim suites on and got in the pool then we went kayaking in the canal and I came about 5 feet from a dolphin when I was just paddling! And I got sun burnt a little. After we went kayaking we started on dinner, we had skirt steak grilled tomatoes, potatoes, and 2 kinds of squash. For desert we had pound cake and almond chocolate almond ice cream and I made a strawberry, mango, and lime smoothies for everyone!

When I woke up this morning I realized it was 8:03 and really bright outside! It was another snow day! We are supposed to get up to 13 inches of snow! You can't even see 30 feet infrount of you! Right now as I'm writing this I'm still in my pjs and haven't brushed my hair yet! Today at school we where supposed to perform the first act of our winter musical, Once Apon A Mattress - guess everyone will have to buy a ticket now! Believe it or not, I have homework on my snow day because my math teacher thought we would probably have a snow day today! Well up next to come is my tour of the Chiefs stadium, the locker rooms and all!

Rowland Family Reunion at Rend Lake

This weekend we went on a trip to the Rowland family reunion. We where going to fly but the weather didn't look good so we drove in my dads car instead. For dinner we stopped by sonic and then we were off! Late at about 9 o'clock we needed some gas so we stopped and got some gas. There was a McDonalds attached to it soooo we got some snacks, I got a snack size McFlury and it was good! My dad and mom got some coffee and i asked them why because it was so late and my dad said it was because it sooths the pain of hearing me complain about the long trip, whatever that means! We finally arrived at about 12:20 so we where all pooped so me and my little brother, Max the pest went to bed. My dad and mom just had to have some wine. In the morning we went to breakfast so we could talk and catch up with all our cousins and aunts and uncles. After breakfast we went to the Lincoln museum and looked around and after that we had lunch and then swimming and had a blast! Our cousins Ben and Melissa have a really cool boat. We went boating and I went tubing it was a blast! That was awesome. After that we went swimming again then I played with my cousins! That night we had our big family dinner and it was really good. We had BBQ pork sandwiches and the highlight was this Italian cake that is always soooo good.

The next morning we headed out to see some different family. My great grandmother Periman's side of the family get together for breakfast in Mount Vernon which was just up the road. It was time to eat the final breakfast at Ryan's. I rode with my Uncle Bill and Aunt Suzie so I could spend a little time with my cousin Grace. We were so late it was more like brunch but it was good anyway! They have a area where you can make your own ice cream sundaes with your own toppings. Piled high. Then it was time to hit the rode to home! I have to get some pictures from the Periman breakfast.

The Drive Home

Well, after the plane was fixed the weather was bad. Really bad. Dad said it was bad and not looking like it was going to get better in the next few days. We decided to drive back to Kansas in the rental car. It was a pretty long drive but we made the most of it. Then my dad is going to go back up to flying cloud airport and fly the airplane back up here when the weather gets better. The drive was 8 hours and then we stopped at a gas station and ran into some luck. They had these really rare silly bands and they were glow in the dark! In the end the drive home wasn't too bad.

So we missed the Royals game in Cincinatti and we didn't get to see Abraham Lincoln's home on this trip. We might try to go to Springfield to see the Lincoln stuff another weekend.

It was a good trip. We have some more pictures of the ride home that I'll try to put up later.

Today is the last day of vacation and dad and I are thinking about setting up an old fish tank. We might go to the pet store today for supplies.

India Cafe for Dinner

We had the India Cafe for dinner and boy was it was interesting, in a good way.If you like spicy food this is the restaurant for you. The place was very authentic most all of the people there where from India! My mom and dad loved it. We found a very interesting place thanks to my mom and her iPhone app, urban spoon. Over all it was very good and very spicy!

I thought it was interesting that most of the customers were Indian. The staff didn't speak much English. They were nice and helped us order a few different dishes. We had lamb in a spicy sauce and a chicken dish that was even spicier. We also had this bread called Naan that is like pita but warm. We found a very Indian area because there were several Indian grocery stores and restaurants in the same area. They gave Max ice cream with mango sauce on it and he liked it.

Today, we are off to see Fort Snelling and then hopefully fly south. The weather is looking iffy according to dad.

Milwaukee back to Minneapolis--Water Park of America

At the Hammer's house we had a lot of fun we went canoeing, jumping on the trampoline, we went hiking, and I had a sleepover with Zoe. Max had a sleepover with Augie and Tucker. We went to this cool place for dinner called Waynes. They were supposed to have a car show but it was kinda raining. They had a hoola hoop contest and Zoe won $5! We had playdough ice cream. That was awesome. In the morning after eating "Kringle" for breakfast we had to head out on the road to get back to the airplane and see if the weather would be nice so we could fiy to western Chicago. Then like an hour in to the car ride I started feeling sick then we pulled over to McDonalds and my mom and dad got me some chicken nuggets with ranch and then we got back in the car and i started to feel better. Then I feel asleep in the car and that helped pass the time. Then we got to the airport to check on the plane and we all got complementary cookies and popcorn. Then we decided we would stay the night and try to fly out on Sunday. After that we where back out on the road to find Water Park Of America so we could have a hotel for the night. When we got there we went straight to the water park and then stayed until 9:00. The water park was awesome. Then we went back to the hotel room and dad ordered pizza and got Max and I a big 2 liter bottle of orange fanta and boy was it good with the meat lover and pepperoni pizza! ****Dad's note: We picked up the airplane tonight. They showed me the piston and it was pretty beat up from the broken valve banging against it. I think I'm bringing it home. If the weather was okay we were looking to get back on track and try to get to Cincy for the Royals game. Unfortunately, the weather didn't look so great so decided to stay in MN and that means probably a Sunday departure because I think it is going to rain all day tomorrow. Anyway, the plane is fixed and when the weather cooperates we will head south.******
