The Drive Home

Well, after the plane was fixed the weather was bad. Really bad. Dad said it was bad and not looking like it was going to get better in the next few days. We decided to drive back to Kansas in the rental car. It was a pretty long drive but we made the most of it. Then my dad is going to go back up to flying cloud airport and fly the airplane back up here when the weather gets better. The drive was 8 hours and then we stopped at a gas station and ran into some luck. They had these really rare silly bands and they were glow in the dark! In the end the drive home wasn't too bad.

So we missed the Royals game in Cincinatti and we didn't get to see Abraham Lincoln's home on this trip. We might try to go to Springfield to see the Lincoln stuff another weekend.

It was a good trip. We have some more pictures of the ride home that I'll try to put up later.

Today is the last day of vacation and dad and I are thinking about setting up an old fish tank. We might go to the pet store today for supplies.

India Cafe for Dinner

We had the India Cafe for dinner and boy was it was interesting, in a good way.If you like spicy food this is the restaurant for you. The place was very authentic most all of the people there where from India! My mom and dad loved it. We found a very interesting place thanks to my mom and her iPhone app, urban spoon. Over all it was very good and very spicy!

I thought it was interesting that most of the customers were Indian. The staff didn't speak much English. They were nice and helped us order a few different dishes. We had lamb in a spicy sauce and a chicken dish that was even spicier. We also had this bread called Naan that is like pita but warm. We found a very Indian area because there were several Indian grocery stores and restaurants in the same area. They gave Max ice cream with mango sauce on it and he liked it.

Today, we are off to see Fort Snelling and then hopefully fly south. The weather is looking iffy according to dad.

Milwaukee back to Minneapolis--Water Park of America

At the Hammer's house we had a lot of fun we went canoeing, jumping on the trampoline, we went hiking, and I had a sleepover with Zoe. Max had a sleepover with Augie and Tucker. We went to this cool place for dinner called Waynes. They were supposed to have a car show but it was kinda raining. They had a hoola hoop contest and Zoe won $5! We had playdough ice cream. That was awesome. In the morning after eating "Kringle" for breakfast we had to head out on the road to get back to the airplane and see if the weather would be nice so we could fiy to western Chicago. Then like an hour in to the car ride I started feeling sick then we pulled over to McDonalds and my mom and dad got me some chicken nuggets with ranch and then we got back in the car and i started to feel better. Then I feel asleep in the car and that helped pass the time. Then we got to the airport to check on the plane and we all got complementary cookies and popcorn. Then we decided we would stay the night and try to fly out on Sunday. After that we where back out on the road to find Water Park Of America so we could have a hotel for the night. When we got there we went straight to the water park and then stayed until 9:00. The water park was awesome. Then we went back to the hotel room and dad ordered pizza and got Max and I a big 2 liter bottle of orange fanta and boy was it good with the meat lover and pepperoni pizza! It is late so we will add pictures later. Now my dad is going to post about the airplane condition and stuff. Bye!! More to come! -Maggy

****Dad's note: We picked up the airplane tonight. They showed me the piston and it was pretty beat up from the broken valve banging against it. I think I'm bringing it home. If the weather was okay we were looking to get back on track and try to get to Cincy for the Royals game. Unfortunately, the weather didn't look so great so decided to stay in MN and that means probably a Sunday departure because I think it is going to rain all day tomorrow. Anyway, the plane is fixed and when the weather cooperates we will head south.******

Visiting The Hammer Family in Milwaukee and Brewers-Cubs game

We went to Milwaukee and visited our friends the Hammers. Mom and Dad went to high school with them. We met up with them for the Brewers and Cubs game. Before that we went to the park and then to a coffee shop called Alterra right on the lake.

It was really cool. Miller Park is awesome. When we got there we went and tailgated at Miller Stadium and had sausage and cheese curds then I got Zoe's (Becca's daughter) cell phone number so we could text. When we got in the stadium we got to our seats and then the girls went to get food. The seats were great. The Cubs beat the Brewers and hit back to back to back home runs. I got nachos from this really cool nacho bar where you tell them what size you want on your nachos and then they tell you how much they are. Becca, my mom's friend had fried cheese curds and boy were they good! Then me and Zoe got cotton candy. This nice usher gave Max a real game ball. When we got back to the Hammer's house we played on my iPad then got our p.j.'s on then went to bed and told each other our best jokes.

The next morning we got up and went to this park called The Lion's Den in Grafton. It had the most amazing view of Lake Michigan. There wasn't a beach really but a huge cliff. We went down to the water and threw rocks into the lake forever. It was fun. The view from the cliff was awesome. Then we went to Port Washington to see some boats. Eric was a great tour guide. He took us to see the last covered bridge in all of Wisconsin.

We ate lunch at Milwaukee Ale House. Everything was great.

It was Tucker, Zoe and Augie Hammer's last day of school today. I am so glad we got out earlier. When they got home we had a fun happy hour and ate some "classic" Wisconsin foods. We had baked cheese, lots of sausages, lots of different cheeses and these pretzel rolls.

I am thinking of letting Zoe write a guest blog. We traded cell phone numbers so we can text each other.

Royals and Twins Game......we lost.

We went went to the Royals and Twins game and boy did we have good seats! After all the rain during the day it was a beautiful night for baseball. It was a very nice new ball park the grass was so green and pretty. They have other concession stands besides hot dogs and hamburgers so I got stir fry and Max had fries and my mom had the same as me. Dad had their famous steak sandwich. We nearly caught 2 balls! To make it even better my little brother Max and dad were on T.V! Several people called or texted to tell us like Jimmy Frantze and Gigi. Before the game started the players were on the field warming up we yelled at Soria and he turned around and smiled and waved back at us. I think we were the only Royals fans there. Max got a Jessie "action figure" (cause dad says boys get action figures and girls get dolls) while we were shopping today but then he threw her on the field! Dad was able to reach over the wall and get her back. After the game we were all looking forward to an ice cream treat at Sebastian Joe's. Unfortunately, we missed them by just a few minutes and had left over Thai at the hotel instead. Bummer. I'm putting on my Snuggie and going to bed. It is late.
****Dad's note: The airplane is not fixed so we are deviating our plan. Tomorrow we will drive to Milwaukee to see the Hammer family and see the Cubs play the Brewers. I guess we'll stay there like we planned and keep in touch with the mechanic at the FBO. If the plane is ready and the weather cooperates we'll come back to Minneapolis and fly the plane home. If not, we will make arrangements to get ourselves home and come back and get the plane when it is ready to fly. We'll keep you posted. It was sad to acknowledge that Cinncinati and Springfield, Illinois are not going to happen.....but that is the way it goes. ***********

Walker Art Center and Sculpture Garden

Tuesday was rainy and dreary most of the day. We headed off to see the Walker Art Center and the Sculpture Garden. On our way there we saw a Basilica and it just happened to be the first Basilica in America and it was named The St. Mary Basilica! When we got there we went and saw a bunch of sculptures. My favorite sculpture was the Spoon bridge and Cherry. On the stem of the cherry there is a mister and it squirts out everywhere. There where a bunch of flowers and green houses. Then after the museum we went to a restaurant called Joe's Garage. I had the mac n cheese with sundried tomatoes, aged Gouda, and the best part. . . . . .BACON!!!!!! My dad had the lamb meatball sandwich. My mom got the brisket burger with a side of their famous mashed potatoes. Max, my little brother had chicken fingers and fries, over all it was a very good restaurant. Then we went downtown to do some shopping and see this Mary Tyler Moore statue....never heard of her. Now we are off to the baseball game. More to come!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

Today is my Mom's birthday. Happy Birthday Mom. I love you. Picture from Spring Break 2 years ago at Marco Island.

Mall of America!!

Yesterday we went and spent the day at Mall of America!!!!!!!!! It was so much fun! We went shopping, saw Lego land, and rode rides at Nicklodeon Universe and I thought Rock Bottom Plunge was the best! At one point you go straight up really slow the they plunge you straight down really fast then you go every which way even upsidedown! But for littler kids I rccommend The Backyardigends Swing-Along and the Wonder Pets Fly Boat. Then after some fun roller coasters we went to Johnny Rockets for lunch and boy was it good! Then we finally went to the "As Seen On T.V" store because I kept begging and begging and begging for a Snuggie because they were half price, and then they finally got me a blue Snuggie, and boy is it comfy.

Mom and dad wanted to stop at Trader Joes for some wine. Then we got back to the hotel and was all most time for Happy Hour so me and my dad went to the hotel gym and ran on the elliptical for 30 minutes. Then Mom went. After that it was time for Happy Hour and boy was I happy when I saw what they where serving..........CHEX MIX!!!!

For the evening we ordered pizza from Pizza Luce and watched a movie called Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. It was a very good movie! It was very late then we went to bed.

Dinner at Sawatdee

On Sunday night we walked to a Thai place called Sawatdee it was very close to the hotel, and boy it's good. My mom got the Summer Pad Thai. She let me try it and it was very, very, very good. It had cilantro instead of green onions and a lighter sauce than normal Pad Thai. I had Silver noodles with shirmp, tomatoes, Chinese cabbage. My dad had Ginger Stir Fry. My little brother, Max had chicken satay on a stick. My parents also had Rose wine. Over all the restaurant was a very good recomendation by the front desk at the hotel.

The ride to Minnesota

We had a good flight over here until we got in to the last 30 minutes or so into the trip. Cause then all of a sudden the engine started running funky and wouldn't stop shaking! Then we started wobbling all over the place! Then we had have a forced landing at a airport named Flying Cloud! Then a very nice man at the airport named Tony and he drove us all the way from Flying Cloud to St.Paul! Tomorrow we are going to Mall of America! Then we might go to the Childrens Museum! We are going to leave Minnesota on Wednesday if our airplane is fixed.

We saw this little bird nest on the ground right outside the airport at Plattsmouth. I took this picture while I was waiting for Dad to fuel the plane. We were careful not to touch.

We saw tons of wind farms as we flew across Iowa. Pretty cool.

In a few minutes we are going to head down to the Embassy Suites happy hour for some chips and salsa and popcorn and then out to eat. I think we are going to a Thai place. I'll let you know about it. Maybe some swimming tonight too.
